Welcome to Joe Pyle Photography...
We are a husband and wife elopement photographer team, traveling the world to create beautiful, adventurous elopement photography in places that make your heart stir and your head swim.
Some basic info...
Here’s some information that most folks don’t really know. The average cost of a wedding today is about $30,000. On average, that’s about $225 per person invited. If that number scares you a bit (like it does us!) maybe working with an elopement photographer in Iceland is a better alternative. You can then have a party with your friends and family when you arrive home!
For less than half the cost of a traditional wedding you can buy plane tickets, rent an SUV, book a beautiful hotel, invite a few friends and family, have a ceremony, and a beautiful reception…
…then have an adventure session in one of the most sought after locations in the world. Sound nice? Read on…

More than an elopement...
If you didn't know already, an elopement in Iceland is more than just an elopement. It is a chance to get away together to an amazing island, full of beauty and amazing natural features. Geysers, waterfalls, caves, glaciers, and volcanic rock line the countryside. Sharing in an adventure here will be just one of the many memories you'll create together.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
What are your packages/rates for an elopement in Iceland?
Each elopement is different and we tailor a day or two just for the two of you to enjoy. Please use the contact button at the top of the screen to ask for our questionnaire. We can usually have your total investment to you within a couple of hours of receiving it back, unless we're outside.
How long would we be together?
Iceland is a magical place and in our experience, four to six hours of driving and photographing is about the "sweet spot" for length of time.
Where would we meet?
There are a lot of stops along the main road, Hringvegur a.k.a. the "Ring Road", and we can find a stop along the way to some of the sights, or we can just meet in Vik or Reykjavik and drive together. It would be best to be in the same vehicle together to leave a smaller footprint on the island. If you don't want to rent a car at all, we could pick you up at Keflavik airport, then drive you to where you are staying.
Where will we go?
If you haven't been there, it seems daunting but Iceland isn't a huge place. It has nearly the same square miles as the state of Kentucky, so we have a lot of options within a relatively small area. Some places are very well known with a lot of tourists. We know a lot of places that aren't well known and you can be basically alone in a huge expanse. In the end, we can all do what we want, really. We have a checklist of the places we love, too.
How do we hire you and what do you need from us?
We require a 50% retainer and a signed contract to hold your day, then the other 50% is due two weeks before your actual wedding day. This way we are not asking for anything from you on the day of your wedding and we can focus on beautiful images.
Do you live in Iceland?
We live in Estes Park, Colorado. Our work takes us to many places and Iceland is by far our favorite. Through our travels there we have sustained a fantastic rapport with several folks and consider it our main destination for elopements. We understand that there are good reasons to hire a local photographer and we do not want to take their work from them. We travel a lot to many places, however this amazing island is our favorite and we spend a lot of time there. (We are actually considering buying a home there, too.)

VIEWS FOR MANY, MANY MILES
Scenes like this are in nearly every direction
Being in Iceland will give you a sense of history and culture you've never had. The nordic traditions, the beautiful language, and the amazing landscape all lend to a remarkable place for an elopement.
This is about you, right?
An elopement in Iceland, or anywhere else for that matter, is about you two. When you decide to elope it's a decision based on love for each other. What you're saying is that the one you love is more important than pleasing others.
Let us know how we can help you with your elopement planning.
Beauty in every direction
Driving Hringvegur, or the "ring road" you'll feel as though you've stepped into another world, and in many ways you have. The landscape, the people, and the quaint towns that dot the countryside are all unique to this part of the world and you can see for miles. Having traveled to Iceland and spent several weeks here, we know how to tailor an elopement for our couples that will be remote, beautiful, and memorable.
A little about us...
Not only are we adventure elopement photographers, we are adventurers and we love the outdoors.
Our time is taken with being outside enjoying the wildernesses, forests, and oceans that this amazing world has to offer. Living in the mountains has taught us a healthy respect for being outside and treating wild places with care. In our spare time we rock climb, hike, fly fish, run, and mountain bike.
Most importantly we are parents, and love our two boys more than anything. It's humbling to watch two people grow into amazing individuals and we can't wait to see what they are going to add to this world.
The world famous
Black Church at the Budir Hotel on Snaefellsnes Peninsula
The world famous Black Church of Budir resides on the Snæfelsness peninsula and sits next to the beautiful Hotel Budir. We have worked with the good folks at this amazing hotel and stayed there many nights. It’s worth looking into for a small elopement! The amenities in the hotel speak to an older Iceland that resonates with seafaring and a time hundreds of years ago. The nordic traditions and customs are not forgotten in this beautiful, quaint hotel.
Both the Hotel Budir and the Black Church on this peninsula are destinations on their own and are listed as some of the top places to see on this side of the island. Do yourselves a favor and look into a stay here. It’s a step back in time and you’ll find yourselves relaxed and rejuvenated.
A little parting wisdom...
After all of the ceremony, reception, first dance, first kiss, hugs, laughter, and time spent with loved ones is through…
Memories and pictures are all you’ll have to remember your wedding day with.
Make them both count.
