Samantha and Ryan’s Gem Lake Trail Engagement
I was proud to work with Samantha and Ryan on their engagement pictures on the Gem Lake Trail. We had scheduled way in advance and the date was set. Then the day arrived and it was gloomy, rainy, and cold. We all decided to go for it anyway. As you can tell from the second shot, it was messy. These two didn’t care, and they wanted to continue up the trail to where the overlooks are a lot better. I’m so glad to work with adventurous couples who are willing to work a little to get the shot. We hiked in, got a lot of great pictures, then bailed out under the rain. It was beautiful in it’s own way, much like a lot of mountain days. You just never know exactly what you’re going to be up against. We were all glad we kept going. Thanks, guys! Kari and I are looking forward to your wedding next September.
When you walk up to the trailhead and it looks like this…
Snow and rain falling everywhere…
One of my favorite places to shoot, on one of the Gem Lake trail overlooks…
Those eyes…
The trail is mild until, like we did, you go off trail a little… (gotta get the shot!)
Boulders and rocks everywhere. These were actually soaking wet…
This rock was cool, but not as cool as the candid expressions I caught. Pretty cool people for sure…
Samantha and Ryan, it was a pleasure to work with you both. Thanks for being willing to get after it! So fun! See you in September, hopefully sooner!
