Iowa City Portrait : Joe Pyle Photography
I talk about portraits a lot. It’s really important to me to capture someone authentically. I feel that you can see into their soul a bit more when you do. Andrew Sherburne and I have been talking about getting his portrait made for about six months. He is co-founder of FilmScene, a “nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the cultural vitality of the Iowa City area through the presentation and discussion of film as an art form”, (taken directly from the header of the site). He also is a producer for Northland films, who, along with other fantastic work, has been working with the people of Guatemala to bring the dark side of the gold industry into the light. Click here to check out his latest work on Vimeo called Gold Fever, which they are working on getting into some of the more prominent film festivals.
We finally dialed in a time we could both get together, and despite the crazy snow, we managed to get some really good shots. He’s a good guy with a huge amount of work created, all of which you should go see. Thanks, Andrew! It was really cool to chat while we froze under the shelter at Crandic Park. Here’s a few shots from today, be sure to “Like and Share”, if you dare. Peace.
